The director vision was that the characters, who were all on stage for the entire show, were squatting in the theater. I tried to imagine how a group of “Flower Children” would decorate and claim as their own the Iron Gate Theater, a re-purposed cathedral. The result was a vibrantly colored flower mural on the floor going right up the first row of seats. In the back was a large, altar like platform to both house the band and tie in to the religious themes in the show and, of course, the space.
