In Progress (Senior Design)
MoviFlex is a low cost, low energy consuming, portable rehabilitation device targeting young, moderate functioning children with cerebral palsy in under developed areas. The device is a stationary bike with linked hand and foot pedals that allow the user’s higher functioning limbs to assist the weaker limbs. Sensors on all four pedals allows for active resistance altering to encourage usage of the lower functioning limbs. This sensing is also used to operate a simple game to encourage usage. The teams most recent presentation on the project can be downloaded here.
Team MoviFlex is comprised of Jessica Hasson, Carder House, Sarah Lawson, and Mihiri Rajapaksa and advised by Dr. Michelle Johnson.

This mechanical proof of concept for the linked hand and foot pedals was the first semester prototype for the project. From it we learned that we could limit to a single gear ratio to keep hand and foot motions in phase.
